Widener after today will be thankful this is its last regular-season game of the year in Maryland as it dropped a 10-7 contest at McDaniel in Westminster, MD.
Sophomore Mike Holtz (Easton, PA) scored 2:39 into the fourth quarter to give Widener a 7-6 lead. But McDaniel erupted for three goals in 1:49 for a 9-7 cushion. Gibbs Preston, Mike Hatton and Kyle Hadden tallied in that stretch.
Freshman Johnny Casey (Glenside, PA) scored three times, sophomore Shawn DeHaven (Lyndell, PA) netted a pair and junior Cory Malampy (Ridley, PA) had one for the Pride (0-3), who posted a 44-29 shots edge.
Hatton tallied five goals with Hadden and Bill Warner netting two apiece for the Green Terror (2-0).
For Widener (0-3), all of its games have been in the Old Line State as it also fell to No. 5 Stevenson and No. 1 Salisbury.
The Pride next Wednesday will try the Garden State as it visits Kean in Union, NJ for a 6:00 pm start.
