CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's Lacrosse open conference play with a tough loss to Eastern after a 9-0 run.
The 18-10 loss moves the Pride to 2-8 in the regular season and 0-1 in MAC Commonwealth play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles would strike first to open the contest. The Pride would answer quickly with a Nicholas Knepp goal for his eight of the season. Out of a timeout, Haverstrom would tie the game at two. Haverstrom continued the scoring with an unassisted goal with 9:59 left. Schmitz would pick up saves to hold the Eagles scoreless until 4:58. A man-up goal from Marino gave the Pride a 4-3 lead. Marino's scoring added to the total with an assisted goal by Jd Gippe with 1:10 left. The first ended with the Pride up 5-3.
- A hot stretched Pride offense would see a Haverstrom unassisted goal to open the second. Schmitz's back-to-back saves gave Shimko his first goal to take a 7-3 lead. The Eagles would find their momentum as they took a 5-0 run to end the half.
- With 30 left, the Pride would continue to hold Eagles offense silent. A slow stretched third quarter would see a forced turnover from Brant at 9:57. The Eagles would score back-to-back goals before Schmitz registered a save. Schmitz's airmail from one side to the other would hit the post before Haverstrom scored a man-up goal to end the Eagles run. The third ended with the Pride down 12-8.
- An unforced Eagles turnover would give Haverstrom his final goal of the game off a Knepp pass to make the score 15-9. The Eagles would answer with three goals before Schmitz picked up another save. A last second Shimko man-up goal would end the game with the final showing 18-10 Eagles.
