CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2016) – Sophomore
Christine Kunzler (Livermore, Calif.) and freshman
Jill Bujanowski (Edgewater Park, N.J.) each factored into four first-place finishes in leading the Widener University women's swimming team to a convincing 191-65 victory over Misericordia on Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center.
Bujanowski and Kunzler started the day by teaming up with freshman
Sammy Grogan (Newtown, Pa.) and sophomore
Lauren Griffith (Doylestown, Pa.) on the winning 200-yard medley relay team which clocked in a time of 1:55.27 to set the tone for the meet. Bujanowski then won the 100 back in 1:03.04, the 200 back in 2:16.62 and the 200 IM in 2:16.95, while Kunzler was victorious in the three sprint freestyle events. She had marks of 25.13 seconds in the 50 free, 55.20 in the 100 and 2:01.54 in the 200.
Other notable performances were made by senior
Melaney Heald (Georgetown, Del.), junior
Liz O'Sullivan (Somers Point, N.J.) and freshman
Nikki Mowry (Millersville, Pa.). Heald won the 500 free in 5:31.77, O'Sullivan triumphed in the 200 fly in 2:20.34 and Mowry captured the 1,000 free in 11:27.82.
Widener (2-0, MAC 2-0) will have the next week off and return to action to host Albright on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
