FREDERICK, Md. – Individual wins and second places contribute to two wins for Widener Women's Swimming in the annual quad meet.
The Pride took a 2-1 record this weekend with a 223-18 win over King's, a 217-31 win over Hood, and a 158-102 loss to Messiah. The Pride move to 2-2 in the season and 2-1 in the MAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay would begin with a 1:58.76 from
Caroline Anderson,
Bella Fanelli,
Emily Thompson, and
Tyla Block.
Olivia Giambalvo took the 1000-yard free with an 11:45.37 final time.
In the 200-yard free,
Megan Shallow took first with a 2:00.09, winning by 0.41.
Anderson's 1:03.73 took second in the 100-yard backstroke.
Fanelli led a 2-4 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:13.66. Thompson took fourth with a 1:16.49.
The 50-yard free showed Giambalvo taking second with a 26.82.
Shallow went on to win the 100-yard free with a 56.32.
Fanelli's 2:42.86 would be enough for a second place finish to split the Falcons in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Giambalvo continued her distance day with a 5:46.30 in the 500-yard free.
Margaret Eckenroth took fourth with a 6:27.46.
Kaitlyn Fahy led a 2-3 finish alongside Thompson in the 100-yard butterfly. Fahy touched with a 1:06.99 while Thompson hit the pad with a 1:07.24.
Shallow wrapped up individual swimming with a 2:22.21 in the 200-yard individual medley.
The Pride took a 2-3 finish in the 200-yard free relay to end the meet. Anderson, Giambalvo, Thompson, and Shallow hit with a 1:45.35 while
Caileigh Foveaux,
Patsy McDonald,
Taylor Sholl, and Shallow hit a 1:53.63 for thid.
