Women’s Swimming Falls to Ursinus on First of the Month

CHESTER, Pa. – A quick afternoon of swimming results in a Widener Women's Swimming loss to Ursinus.
 
The 119-83 loss puts the Pride at 2-3 in the regular season and 2-1 in conference meets.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
The Pride opened the meet with a second in the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:57.64 from Caroline Anderson, Bella Fanelli, Kaitlyn Fahy, and Megan Shallow.
 
Fanelli continued her swimming with a third overall in the 1000-yard free an event alter. The first year would register a 13:01.46.
 
Olivia Giambalvo sneaked into second in the 200-yard free with a 2:08.62.
 
Shallow's 25.88 would be fast enough for her first win of the afternoon with Shelby Devose finished in a 27.51.
 
A first-time swim of the season came in the 400-yard individual medley as Tyla Block took third with a 5:25.53. Emily Thompson would also clock a 5:26.03.
 
Fahy clocked a 1:08.87 in the 100-yard butterfly with Taylor Sholl 1:11.09.
 
Shallow took first in the 100-yard free with a 55.70 to win by half a second.
 
In the 100-yard backstroke, Block and Kylie Rodi took a 3-4 finish with Block leading in a 1:07.13. Rodi hit in a 1:07.55
 
Anderson took third in the 500-yard free with a final time of 5:47.06 to hold 35 seconds per 50-yards.
 
The last individual event of the afternoon, the Pride went 2-3-4 with Thompson leading in a 1:13.95. Hailey Webster would finish with a 1:14.29 while Olivia Wainstein clocked a 1:16.01.
 
The quad of Giambalvo, Patsy McDonald, Webster, and Anderson took first in the 200-yard free relay with a 1:49.92. Devose, Wainstein, Fanelli, and Caileigh Foveaux took second with a 1:53.14.

Widener heads to Madison, N.J. to face FDU-Florham in a 1 p.m. meet on Saturday, November 15.
