Indoor Track Squads Compete at Both Haverford and Lehigh

Widener had both its men's and women's teams compete at the Haverford Quad-Meet and several of its men's athletes participate in the Mountain Hawk Multi Invite in Bethlehem, PA.
 
For the men's side at Haverford, freshman Abdul Bangura (Delanco, NJ) won the high jump at 1.77 meters and freshman Zachary Conner (West Grove, PA) was first in the pole vault at 3.95 meters.  Anthony Green (Penns Grove, NJ) won the shot put by covering 13.72 meters and fellow freshman Kal McCloskey (Pittsburgh, PA) was third at 11.97 meters.
 
Freshman Antonio Richardson (Cartersville, VA) also had a day by ending second in the triple jump by leaping 12.87 meters and third in the long jump at 6.17 meters.
 
Freshman Denzell Boham (Royersford, PA) was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.27 seconds and freshman Ian Reilly (Shillington, PA) was third in 9.63 seconds.  Freshman Dylan Lawrence (Coal Township, PA) was second in the 400-meter dash in 56.01 seconds and, sophomore Dennis Nguyen (Springfield, PA) was second in the long jump in 6.2 meters.
 
For the women, sophomore Erica Szpynda (Berwick, PA) won the shot put at 11.19 meters and freshman Kayla Thomas (Morton, PA) took the pole vault by covering 2.90 meters.  Freshman Brittany Diehl (Havertown, PA) was second in the 200-meter dash in 27.63 seconds, sophomore Colleen Spiller (Flemington, NJ) closed second in the high jump at 1.47 meters and freshman Amber Char (Southampton, PA) was third in the pole vault at 2.45 meters.
 
The women's 4x400 meter relay team was third in 4:17.16 and included Diehl, senior Emilie Keane (Haddonfield, NJ), junior Darcela Llanos (Abington, PA) and freshman Brittany Franks (Philadelphia, PA).
 
At Lehigh, freshman Mike Recla (Bloomsburg, PA) was second in the shot put at 15.39 meters and defeated a combined four Division I and II athletes.  Sophomore Eric Solomon (Columbia, PA) closed second in the weight throw at 16.41 meters by topping 17 athletes either from Division I or II.
 
The squads on Saturday compete at the Thompson Invitational in Newark, DE.
