Counsel Garners Middle Atlantic Conference Track Athlete of the Week Honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 20, 2016) - Qadree Counsel (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The senior earned a first place finish in the 800-meter run against Haverford on February 15th. He recorded a MAC Championship qualifying time of 1:57.59, which ranks Counsel sixth in the conference rankings.

On Saturday at the Keogh Invitational, Counsel crossed the finish line of the 3,000-meter race in first place. He finished with a conference qualifying time of 8:28.18, which ranks him third in the MAC rankings. The senior is also currently ranked 14th nationally in the event.

Counsel is the fourth straight member of the track & field to earn the MAC Track Athlete of the Week honor. Senior Leonard Harmon (Charlton, Mass.) and juniors Ernie Pitone (Springfield, Pa.) and William McDermott (Lansdowne, Pa.) also received the accolade earlier in the 2015-16 campaign. Thomas Zamorski (Frenchtown, N.J.), Josh Colley (Tunkhannock, Pa.) and Nicholas Salvadore (Oxford, Pa.) each earned MAC Field Athlete of the Week honors this season.

The Pride will be back in action on Friday as they compete on the first day of the MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa. on the campus of Lehigh University.
