Men's Lacrosse Falls, 11-5 at Wesley

3/19/08 -- Widener played Wesley tough over the first three quarters, but could not overcome the fourth quarter for an 11-5 loss in Dover, DE.

Senior Clint Quedenfeld (Chalfont, PA) scored with 5:13 left in the third quarter to bring Widener to a 4-4 tie. Joe Trezza broke the deadlock for the Wolverines with 1:27 left in the period for a 5-4 cushion.

Eric Crumbock scored twice in the first 80 seconds of the fourth quarter, giving Wesley a 7-4 lead. Pride senior Chris Matthews (Drexel Hill, PA) tallied with 11:34 remaining for a 7-5 margin, but Brad Smith netted two straight as the Wolverines opened a four-goal lead.

Matthews and senior Brian Stromko (Maplewood, NJ) each scored twice for the Pride (2-4) and sophomore Nick Politarhos (Ridley, PA) had eight ground balls.

Smith ended with four goals and Nick Pisacano dished three assists for the Wolverines (5-3).

It does not get any easier for Widener, which on Saturday hosts No. 9 Cabrini. Game time at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium is 1:00 pm.
