CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's Lacrosse wrap up home conference play against Alvernia in a close contest.
The 11-9 loss moves the Pride to 3-12 in the regular season and 1-5 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride defense stood the early test as Schmitz made an early save before Marino put the first goal in off an Eahart pass. Schmitz registered another save to transition the offense to a Liam Drake goal from Sean Alminde to take a 2-0 lead. The Golden Wolves would answer with 7:47 left. Aiden McDonnell poked the ball lose to give Marino his second of the afternoon to retake the lead. The period ended with the Pride up 3-2.
- Shots on both sides would fly as the second started but Knepp came home with an unassisted goal to move the score to 4-2. Schmitz would again register a save to give the offense an attacking possession. Luke Shimko's shot would be an unassisted goal for his 21st of the season. Just before half, the Golden Wolves would score to make the score 5-3.
- The Pride struck first out of half with a Knepp unassisted goal. Schmitz's back-to-back saves held the Golden Wolves silent until a goal came with 10:19 left. Pride shots would soar from Shimko and Knepp while the defense tried to hold the paced Golden Wolves offense. The third ended with the Pride down 7-6.
- Shingle won the fourth quarter faceoff to give Haverstrom an unassisted goal to tie the game at seven. A Townsend forced turnover would held the Pride answer with another Haverstrom unassisted goal to bring the score within one with 7:46 left. The Golden Wolves tacked on two goals before Luke Cichetti scored a man-up goal ith 3:38 left. The Pride shots wouldn't find the back of the cage as time expired showing a 11-9 final.

Widener heads to Grantham, Pa. for their final regular season matchup against the 8-6 (4-2 MAC Commonwealth) Messiah Falcons. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25.
