CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Women's Basketball head coach Alisa Kitner unveils the 2025-26 schedule.
The Pride are coming off a season where they finished with an 18-9 overall record and a 10-4 record in MAC Conference play. They went into the playoffs as the #2 seed and would take home a win over York College in the semifinal round to advance to the MAC Championships. Their season would end in the Championship game against #1 seeded Messiah University.
Kitner expresses her excitement for the season ahead.
"We're excited about the challenges ahead and the opportunities this schedule gives us to grow as a team. Every game is a chance to compete, improve, and represent our program with pride."
Kitner also speaks of the challenging new additions to the schedule.
"One of the highlights will be traveling over the holiday break to Daytona, where our team will face strong competition and create experiences that will stay with us beyond the court."
The team parts ways with two key contributors in senior guard
Mary McFillin and senior forward
Rachel Ludwig. While the Pride will miss their presence on the court, they return their three top scorers from last season in senior post player
Mia Robbins, senior guard
Lindsay Kutz, and sophomore guard
Riley Stackhouse.
Mia Robbins is coming off another dominate season where she earned All-MAC first team honors and was also named to the D3hoops.com all region 2
nd team. Robbins led the team with 18.0 points per game and grabbed 8.6 rebounds per game.
Lindsay Kutz was a dependable player for the Pride every single night. Kutz earned All-MAC second team honors after a season where she averaged 10.2 points per game, 8. Rebounds per game, and led the team with 77 assists.
The Pride will start their season on Friday, Nov. 11 at the Gwynedd Mercy tournament that will continue through Saturday, Nov. 12. Their first home game will be on Wednesday, Nov. 19 against Gallaudet University. Widener will finish out the November schedule with an away game at Penn State Brandywine followed by a home game against Neumann.
The month of December will be a huge test for the Pride as they start off the month with a home game against Arcadia University and then an away game against Dickinson College, two teams who were in their conference playoffs last season. After that, the Pride will take a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla. where they will face Grove City College on Friday, Dec. 19 followed by a match up against Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, Dec. 20.
When Widener returns home from Florida, they will jump right into conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Alvernia University. After that, the Messiah University Falcons come to Chester, Pa. for a rematch of last year's MAC Championship game on Saturday, Jan. 10. The next big test comes on Wednesday, Jan. 28 when the Pride will face off against York College who they defeated in last year's semifinal round.
The season will conclude in the month of February when the Pride will face six conference opponents and look to get back into the playoffs to avenge last year's championship loss.
