2025-26 IWLCA Aspire Program - Josey Shaffer

Newest Member of Women's Lacrosse Selected for IWLCA Aspire Program

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Widener Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach Josey Shaffer was selected to participate in the IWLCA Aspire Program, as announced by the IWLCA on Friday (Sep. 6).

This professional development program which launched in 2024, was designed to align with the IWLCA's vision to offer an intensive, high-quality continuing education opportunity for currant assistant coaches. The inaugural Aspire class of 17 spots has been expanded to feature two cohorts of 15 coaches each for 2025-26. (Courtesy of the IWLCA)

Shaffer, the newest assistant coach, was selected for the Elevate Cohort along with five other Division III coaches. Within the Elevate Cohort two Division I, six Division II, and one NAIA assistant coaches combined with the five from Division III make up the group of 15. The recent Lock Haven University graduate joined the Pride after a year as a volunteer coach where she helped the Bald Eagles to a 9-8 (6-4 PSAC) record and a trip to the postseason conference tournament. Shaffer would graduate from Lock Haven in 2024 as a two-year team captain, and a two-time PSAC All-Conference member. 

Widener Women's Lacrosse enters their second season with a member of the coaching staff in the IWLCA Aspire Program as Katherine Yarusso recently fulfilled the inaugural class requirnments.
