NEWTOWN, Pa. – Four Widener Football defensive players earn MAC All-Conference selections following a 4-6 season.
This season's First Team All-Conference list shows linebacker
Luke Shimko.
Shimko would play and start in all 10 games this season to lead the Pride defense to key takeaways to upset King's and win an OT game against FDU-Florham. Shimko led the defense with 83 total tackles and would come away with big turnovers against King's with a forced fumble and a recovery. On the season, Shimko had three interceptions for 75 yards.
The second team showed defensive lineman
Michael Miller and defensive back
Luke Shaeffer earning spots on the team.
Miller played in all games this season and accumulated 34 total tackles and 11.5 tackles for losses. The lineman aided in driving opponents back with 3.5 sacks for 16 yards and four hurry ups.
Shaeffer held the number two spot on the defense in tackles with 62. On the season, the defensive back came away with two tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries which led the Pride alongside
Ryan Wilson.
Honorable mention
Jalen Walker returned for his final season of play to be garnered Honorable Mention All-Conference. Walker's defensive leadership aided with 26 tackles. Seven tackles for loss for a team high 39 yards, three sacks, and a team high seven quarterback hurry ups.
