Women’s Volleyball Comes Away with Three All-MAC Commonwealth Honors

Barthol earns Second-Team selection; DiCarlo, Toomey garner honorable mentions

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Widener women's volleyball team saw Megan Barthol, Rachel DiCarlo and Shannon Toomey each earn All-MAC Commonwealth honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Barthol earned a spot on the All-MAC Commonwealth Second Team as a setter, while teammates DiCarlo and Toomey were selected as honorable mentions. 

Megan Barthol, who has made program history as being the ninth player to tally 1,000 assists, has made All-MAC second team as a setter. Barthol, a junior, had 820 assists this season, as well as 40 kills and 32 service aces. Barthol had a career high of 51 assists in a game against Merchant Marine Academy (10/08). Barthol is ranked fourth in the MAC Commonwealth in assists, averaging 8.37 assists per set.

DiCarlo and Toomey picked up honorable mention honors from the conference as well. DiCarlo, a junior libero, had 353 digs for the Pride this season and helped the Pride on the defensive side of the ball. She is ranked fifth in the MAC Commonwealth in digs with an average of 3.68 digs per set.

Sophomore middle hitter, Shannon Toomey, earns her second All-MAC honors of her career. In 2021, Toomey earned a spot on the second team as a middle hitter. She appeared in 19 games for the Pride this season and tallied 124 kills. Toomey had a personal high of 13 kills against Neuman (9/24) and five blocks against Alvernia (9/21). She is ranked fourth in the MAC Commonwealth for hitting percentage with 0.302.
