CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener women's volleyball team took on Arcadia and Penn College in a tri-match Saturday afternoon at Schwartz Athletic Center. The Pride fell to Arcadia in four sets in the first match, but went on to sweep Penn College, 25-16, 25-19, 25-8.
The Pride are now 7-10 on the season and remain 2-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST PENN COLLEGE
- The Pride capitalized on early points and maintain the lead throughout the duration of the match. The Pride opened the third set by scoring 13 straight points en route to their 25-8 win.
- Emily Miller matched her career high in kills with 12. The senior also had 12 kills in a match against Lebanon Valley last season. Miller also led the Pride on the defensive end with three blocks.
- Barthol dished out a match-high 24 assists for the Pride. Barthol also had a match-high four aces, all of which came during Widener's 13-point run in the third set.
- Defensively, Liz Barnes made a match-high 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ARCADIA
- After dropping the first two sets to the Knights by 25-12 and 25-23 counts, the Pride began their comeback by coming away with a gutsy 25-23 win in the third game when Lillyanna Martucci sealed the deal with an ace. The Pride was unable to come out on top, dropping the fourth set by a 25-21 score.
- Isabella Ricevuto led the Blue and Gold with 10 kills
- Barthol had a strong game, handing out a match-high 41 assists. The junior has had 40 or more assists in three matches this season.
- Defensively, Barthol also paced the Pride with 17 digs.
- Shannon Toomey, Miller and Martucci had three blocks apiece for the Blue and Gold.
