Sophomore punter Kevin Huelster (Mount Laurel, NJ) was tabbed the Middle Atlantic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week with junior linebacker Joe Favinger (Mohnton, PA) and freshman quarterback Chris Haupt (Bloomsburg, PA) named to the Honor Roll.
Huelster had three punts for an average of 44.0 yards Friday in Widener's 41-17 victory at FDU-Florham. Two landed inside the 20 yard line and one early in the fourth quarter was downed at the one, helping end any chance of momentum change.
Favinger enjoyed another monster game recording seven tackles, 2 1/2 tackles for a loss, one sack and a forced fumble. He also ran a fake punt 25 yards up the middle late in the first half that led to a touchdown and a 27-0 halftime lead.
Haupt had a hand in all four first-half touchdowns, throwing for three and running one in. He completed scoring passes of eight, 10 and 28 yards in addition to finding the end zone on a quarterback sneak. Haupt finished with 200 yards of total offense, completing 18-of-32 passes for 196 yards.
Widener (3-1, 1-0 MAC) returns to the gridiron Saturday at home against King's, beginning at 1:00 pm.
