9/18/07 -- Senior Jaime Carr (Norristown, PA) had two goals and an assist and sophomore Jessica Gonzalez (Eastampton, NJ) also scored twice for Widener, which remained unbeaten with a 4-2 victory over Philadelphia University at Edith R. Dixon Field.
Carr, the two-time defending Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, opened the scoring in the ninth minute thanks to a pass from junior Erica Rose (Plymouth Meeting, PA). Gonzalez made it 2-0 in favor of Widener (6-0) just two minutes later with an unassisted marker.
Lauren Piontkowski scored in the 16th minute to bring the Lady Rams (1-6) within 2-1, but they would get no closer. Carr netted her league-leading 12th goal of the year in the 52nd minute for a two-goal margin thanks to an assist from sophomore Kelly Eash (Glenolden, PA). Gonzalez' fourth goal of the year from Carr in the 60th minute made it a 4-1 lead.
Laura Dupler tallied in the 65th minute for the Lady Rams, who were on the wrong end of a 14-12 shots edge.
Carr took six shots and sophomore Katie Jensen (Center Valley, PA) made five saves for the Pride, who continued the best start in school history.
Karen Bloomfield took four shots and Jessica Snyder made eight saves for Philadelphia University.
Widener is on the road Saturday to visit DeSales, beginning at 1:00 pm in Center Valley, PA.
