COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Melissa McCarthy, Head Coach of Field Hockey, has been named to the U.S. O-35 Women's Masters Team for both the outdoor and indoor 2026 World Masters Hockey (WMH) World Cups, as announced by the U.S. Masters Executive Committee.

Following a nine-month selection process that included extensive training sessions and evaluations, McCarthy earned a roster spot on the U.S. O-35 Women's Masters Team that will compete at the 2026 WMH Masters World Cup (MWC). The outdoor tournament will be held across multiple sites, including Rotterdam and Schiedam in the Netherlands, as well as Brasschaat, Belgium, and Breda, Netherlands, throughout July and August 2026.

The U.S. Masters program has seen unprecedented growth, with more than 80 athletes earning their first World Cup selections this cycle. U.S. Masters High Performance Committee Chair Janelle Benner praised the depth and dedication shown throughout the process, highlighting the impact of committed coaching staffs in preparing athletes for international competition.

In addition to the outdoor squad, McCarthy was also selected to represent the United States at the 2026 WMH Masters Indoor World Cup (MIWC), set for March 26-31, 2026 in Nottingham, England. The United States will compete against an accomplished international field featuring teams from Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, and more. The U.S. Women will be represented across multiple age divisions, including O-35, where McCarthy will compete.

Masters athletes are self-funded and support the expenses of coaching and medical staff as part of their World Cup campaigns. A 2026 fundraising initiative has been launched to assist with travel and tournament costs, uniting supporters and corporate partners in backing elite masters athletes on the international stage.
