NEWTOWN, Pa. - Widener Men's Track and Field are placed fifth on the MAC Track and Field Pre-Championship Poll, as announced by the conference office (Apr. 23).
This year's MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships are slated for Thursday, April 30 to Saturday, May 2 in Grantham, Pa. at Messiah University.
The Pride are placed fifth with 167 total points, just behind York who holds 170 and a first place vote. Leading the conference poll is Lebanon Valley with 216 points and 11 first place votes. Messiah follows with 210 and four first places votes. Misericordia falls just under the Pride with 160 points and Stevens sits one point behind Misericordia.
Following a successful indoor season, junior
Matayo McGraw will look to lead the Pride. McGraw currently holds the top triple jump mark in the nation following his performance at the Morgan State Legacy Meet on April 17 and 18. McGraw's history at outdoor track and field championships holds three first team all-conference marks and two first team All-American marks.
Joining McGraw, is mid-distance runner
David Johnson. Johnson's season has shown a breakout into the top 100 in the nation after the Paul Donahue Invitational in the 800-meter. The junior currently marks third in the MAC rankings which is just shy of the tie for first by 0.06 seconds. In the 400-meter, Johnson currently sits 14th in conference rankings.
