NEWTOWN, Pa. – For the upcoming 2025 season, the Widener Field Hockey team has been placed fifth in the MAC Commonwealth Preseason Coaches' poll, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday (Aug. 20). 

In the poll, Widener earned 23 points, placing between Alvernia, which secured 28 points, and Hood, which collected 20 points. Messiah led the poll with 47 points and five first-place votes, while York came in a close second with 42 points and two first-place votes. 

Last season, the Pride finished with a record of 7-10 (3-4 in the MAC Commonwealth), ultimately falling short of qualifying for the conference playoffs.

The 2025 season is set to begin in just over a week on August 29 at Shillingford Field in Bryn Mawr, Pa. The Pride will compete against Bryn Mawr. In their previous matchup on August 30, 2024, the Pride suffered a defeat, losing 2-1 to the Olympias.
