SCRANTON, Pa. – Widener Women's Swimming falls to Scranton in a 100-point differential.
The 181-81 loss puts the Pride a 0-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pride opened the season with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The quad of
Caroline Anderson,
Bella Fanelli,
Emily Thompson, and
Tyla Block clocked a 1:58.97.
Megan Shallow would barely take second in the 200-yard free with a 2:00.71 also out touching the Royals by 0.06.
Anderson took first in the 50-yard back with a 30.23.
Webster led a 1-2 finish in the 50-yard breaststroke. Webster clocked a 33.11 and Fanelli finished with a 33.53.
Shallow went on to take first in the sprint 50-yard free, winning by 0.01, with a 25.93.
Giambalvo took second with a 57.39 in the 100-yard free.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Shallow clocked a 1:04.35 to split the Royals.
Thompson went on to take third in the 100-yard breaststroke as she hit the wall in 1:15.02. A few events later, Thompson took another third in the 50-yard butterfly with a 29.24.
Block's 200-yard individual medley showed a 2:31.96.
The final event of the day was a second overall finish in the 400-yard free relay. Shallow, Giambalvo, Anderson, and
Caileigh Foveaux clocked a 3:53.64.

Widener returns to the pool on Saturday, October 25 with a quad meet against King's, Messiah, and Hood. The meet in Frederick, Md. is scheduled for 1 p.m.
