CHESTER, Pa. – Head Men's Basketball Coach
Chris Carideo announced the 2024-25 schedule which is set to begin with a road game and the annual Tip-Off Tournament for Autism Awareness in November.
The nationally ranked 2023-24 squad held a 24-5 season record with a 12-2 MAC Commonwealth record. The #19 Pride would be the host for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament and would play one of their best seasons since the 2008-09 season.
Head Coach
Chris Carideo and company "are looking forward to the 2024-25 season with great anticipation. With 14 returning players and the additional of some very talented young men we hope to continue to compete at the highest level of Division III Men's College Basketball."
The Pride's grueling campaign begins on with a visit to Ursinus on November 13. The annual Tip-Off Tournament for Autism Awareness set for November 15-16 as the Pride welcome two NCAA Tournament teams. Widener will take on Hamilton at 8 p.m. while Stockton and Catholic matchup at 6 p.m. Last season Stockton would fall in the first round to Tufts while Catholic would fall to Rowan in the second round.
The ten-game stretch of 2024 displays numerous tournament teams and regionally ranked teams as Carideo has "put together a very challenging non-conference schedule which includes teams with a great basketball tradition as well as teams that participated in the NCAA tournament last season. We hope the non-conference schedule prepares us for our very challenging conference play starting in January." Non-conference madness continues with the Centennial Conference Champion and NCAA Tournament qualifier Swarthmore making the short trip over to Chester, Pa. on November 26.
To open December, the Pride host another NCAA Tournament qualifier as the MAC Freedom's DeSales pokes their head into the Schwartz Center on December 4 for the MAC Commonwealth-Freedom crossover game. Wrapping up play during the semester is a trip to Hoboken, N.J. to battle the Stevens Ducks, the MAC Freedom Champion and first round tournament team.
Over the holiday break, the Pride will escape the weather in Chester and head down to Miami Shores, Fla. to compete in the Cruzin Classic for the second straight year. Two tough teams will make an appearance on the schedule from Wesleyan and Carroll.
2025 will begin with a visit from the Tufts Jumbos, who fell in the NESCAC semifinals but made a postseason run to the third round against Trinity. Tufts walks into the Schwartz Center on January 4 for an afternoon tip.
MAC Commonwealth play begins shortly after the Jumbos depart Chester with a conference home opener on January 8 against Hood who finished second last season with an 11-3 conference record. January 11 will tip off the first away conference game against Stevenson.
Notable MAC Commonwealth games include a rematch with Eastern on January 15 in the Schwartz Center and back-to-back road games later in February to Eastern and Hood.
The final game before the MAC Commonwealth tournament begins is set for February 22 against Albright. The conference tournament is scheduled for a semifinal game on Wednesday, February 26 and a championship game on Saturday, March 1.
The NCAA Tournament will begin in early March.
