YORK, Pa. – Widener men's basketball falls to York in a conference showdown.
The 85-73 loss moves the Pride to 7-17 in the regular season and 4-9 in MAC Commonwealth standings.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Myles Bright led the Pride with 23 points.
- Jay-Nelly Reyes held 15 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
- Off the bench, Namisse Musonge led with eight points.
- The Pride shot 47.4% from the floor, 42.1% from three, and saw 28 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride got things going with a Reyes layup. Bright hit a layup for his first points at 17:32 while TJ Bryson joined the stat lines. A back-and-forth would happen with Segich finding an And-1 to take a 9-8 lead. The first triple would fall at 14:08 to start three in a row. Musonge got things going before Bright and Reyes sunk theirs. A jumper from Bryson with 8:13 left would cut the lead of the Spartans down to four. Bright would see a layup from Segich while Segich put the Pride to 30 with two from the stripe. A Bright and Musonge triple would jump the Pride to 36 points while Reyes hit an And-1. The Pride headed to half down 47-41.
- Dodson had the scoring started with a layup out of half. A Pride timeout would give Dodson a layup while Segich went 1-of-2 from the stripe. Reyes extended the Pride above 50 with a triple at 15:38 to cut the score to 59-51. Dylan Schlatter hit a jumper and then capitalized on a Bright steal with his own triple. A short 4-0 Bright run would put the Pride at 60 with just under half to go in the second. Conner Schumacher joined the stat lines with a layup with 6:35 left to cut the score 74-67. Dodson's defense prevailed with a block and steal before Bright earned three shots from the charity stripe. The game ended with a Spartans run and a final of 85-73.
