PHILADELPHIA – Junior cross country and track and field Gabby Nye selected to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team after outdoor performance, as voted by the athletic communication offices at 30 Philadelphia metropolitan area institutions.
 
Nye, a native of Shippensburg, Pa., has continued her athletic excellence as she adds an Academic All-Area team selection for the track and field seasons to her already PhillySIDA team list. Nye was named PhillySIDA Performer of the Year in the fall during cross country season.
 
On the track, Nye led lead the Pride its first triple crown, recorded two Widener records, and numerous all-time top 10 performances. During the indoor season, Nye captured the 3,000-meter run record with a 10:20.23 and became second all time in the mile and third all time in the 5,000-meter run. The outdoor season continued to fall under Nye's favor as she continued her record-breaking season in the mile. She clocked a 4:45.15. Nye would also become the third all time runner in the 5,000-meter run and the 10,000-meter run.
 
Off the track, Nye is pursuing a double major in biology/pre-physical therapy and Spanish and has been named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll nine times. The junior runner has also been selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the Academic All-MAC team, and CSC Academic All-District team.
 
Nye is joined by 10 other Philadelphia metropolitan area student-athletes across all three divisions.
