PHILADELPHIA – Senior track and field
Alex Kristeller selected to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team after a dominating performance during the indoor and outdoor seasons, as voted by the athletic communication offices at 30 Philadelphia metropolitan area institutions.
Kristeller, a native of Kingston, Pa., topped off his academic and athletic career in style. Kristeller's athletic performance in the indoor season carried over to the outdoor season after he was named NCAA All-American.
In the circle, the senior capped off his weight throw career with a Widener school record with a 20.55-meter throw, a top 10 performance in the shot put, a second all-time performance in the hammer throw. During the indoor season, Kristeller was named an All-American which earned silver at NCAAs and set a new MAC record. The outdoor season continued to be a thriller for the hammer throw specialist as he went on to be crowned the 2023 National Champion after his 63.64-meter throw.
In the classroom, Kristeller graduated with a degree in robotics engineering. Kristeller was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll numerous times and was selected to the Academic All-MAC team and the USFTCCCA All-Academic team.
Kristeller is joined by 10 other Philadelphia metropolitan area student-athletes across all three divisions.
