CHESTER, Pa. – An out touch at the finish from
Olivia Giambalvo became enough for Widener Women's Swimming to add a win in the final meet of 2023.
The 111-92 win pushes the streak to two and 4-2 in the regular season.
The Blue and Gold cruise to a win to open the meet in the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:57.19 from
Sophia Sapnas,
Anna Durboraw,
Sally Meyers, and
Olivia Giambalvo.
Lauren Kalsbeek would follow up with a win in the next event with a 11:04.42 1000-yard free first. Kalsbeek's 11:04.42 earned a new season best.
Meyers snagged a second place in the 200-yard free to split the Shorewomen with a 2:04.83.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Kalsbeek took first for the second time with a 2:20.42.
Anna Durboraw snuck into third with a 2:27.80.
A couple events later Meyers added another second with a 1:03.58 in the 100-yard butterfly.
The turning point of the meet came in the 100-yard free as Giambalvo's second 50 outsplit the two Shorewomen to see a come from behind win and out touch with a 58.61.
Kaitlyn Fahy led a 1-2-3 finish to add 16 points in the 100-yard backstroke. Fahy registered a 106.77 as Sapnas touched in a 1:07.12 and
Caroline Anderson followed in 1:07.44.
Kalsbeek added a final win in the 500-yard free with a 5:26.17 to end her day with three individual wins.
Jenna Angelucci took third in a 5:52.65.
A final meet closeout from Anderson,
Olivia Downs, Fahy, and Giambalvo in the 200-yard free relay sealed the win. The quad would take second in a 1:49.18.

Widener will see their first meet after the winter break on Friday, Jan. 12 against Immaculata in a home meet starting at 5:30 p.m.
