CHESTER, Pa. – Sean Fatiga and
Bryan Gaviria each scored a goal in the second half to help the Widener men's soccer team beat Stevenson, 2-0, in its Homecoming game on Saturday night at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
The victory extended the Pride's unbeaten streak to six matches in a row (4-0-2). It also kept them unbeaten in MAC Commonwealth play at 3-0-1 and helped them improve to 7-4-2 overall this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STEVENSON
- After a scoreless first half, the Pride got on the scoreboard in the 47th minute after Fatiga fired in a goal from the left side off a long through ball from Andrew Hurrell.
- Then in the 68th minute, Gaviria gave the Pride an insurance goal after scoring off a pass from Ryan Toporowski.
- Even though the Mustangs outshot them in the second half by an 8-4 margin, the Pride defense stood firm and shut them out to earn the conference victory.
- Sean Fatiga led the Pride with three shots, two of which were on goal. Max Hartke also had three shots in the game.
- Ryan Van Pelt pitched his second shutout of the season while making five saves in goal.

Widener will be back in action on Wednesday night when it travels to face Albright in a MAC Commonwealth game. Kickoff for that game is at 7 p.m.
