GREENWOOD, Ind. – Nick D'Alessandro of the Widener University baseball team has been named a Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District performer as voted on by the Sports Information Directors in District 4 as announced by the organization on Thursday.
 
D'Alessandro was a Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth performer after hitting .321 with six doubles, two homers and 22 RBI. He led the team and was seventh in the conference with 17 steals this season and finished sixth in the league with six sacrifice bunts. The junior had 12 multi-hit games this season including three contests with a trio of base knocks and enjoyed an 11 game on-base streak to open the year.
 
In the classroom, Nick has excelled, posting a 4.0 GPA through his first five semesters as a chemical engineering major.
 
First-team Academic All-District™  honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month. 
 
To be eligible for Google Cloud Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
