Men’s Lacrosse Wins Final Regular Season Game 17-7 Over Hood

Senior Josh Fox (Wynnewood, PA) scored a career-high six goals and reached 100 career goals for Widener, which closed the regular season with a 17-7 Commonwealth Conference victory at Hood in Frederick, MD.
 
In the first period Widener outscored the Blazers 5-2. With 2:35 remaining in the period, Brian Ziegler (Telford, PA), Tim Taylor (Philadelphia, PA) and Fox each scored a goal, with Fox getting the assist on the first two.
 
Taylor started the scoring for the Pride (10-5, 6-2 CC) in the second period before the first minute expired. In a four-minute window, Fox scored three consecutive goals for the Pride. He scored his sixth and final goal of the game with five minutes left in the period and Kyle Gratz (Worthington, OH) found the back of the net with just 45 seconds on the clock.

Fox now has 26 goals on the season.  His had scored five in one game on three previous occassions.
 
In the third period, each team scored three goals back-to-back, with Hood (3-14, 0-8) making all three of its goals in the last two minutes of the period. Only two goals were made in the fourth and final period, and they both belonged to Widener. Ryan McDonald (Yardley, PA) fed the ball to Brian Einstein (Mount Laurel, NJ) for his third goal of the season. With five minutes remaining in regulation, Andrew Buckley (Lumberton, NJ) netted his fourth of the season, the assist going to Gratz.
 
Mac Nestler (Chatham, NJ) spent just over 54 minutes between the posts and made 11 saves, allowing just seven goals for the win.
 
Widener is the third seed for the conference tournament and on Wednesday will visit Albright in the semifinals, beginning at 7:00 pm in Reading, PA.
