No. 18 Men's Lacrosse Stays Red Hot With 15-1 Victory at Lycoming

(box score)

No. 18 Widener scored 10 goals in the first half for the second straight game and rolled to its sixth straight victory, a 15-1 dispatching of Commonwealth Conference foe Lycoming in Williamsport, PA.

The rematch of last year's conference semifinals, won by Widener (9-3, 5-0 CC), won no contest as the visitors opened a 4-0 lead at quarter time.  Senior Johnny Casey (Glenside, PA) had a goal and an assist in that span with freshman Marc LaVine (Nashua, NH), senior Ryan Eidenshink (Elkins Park, PA) and freshman Tim Taylor (Philadelphia, PA) getting one each.

The Pride then got six more in the second for a 10-1 halftime lead en route to their fourth straight victory in Williamsport.  Freshman Kyle Gratz (Worthington, OH) had three goals and an assist in that time, Taylor netted a pair and senior Josh Fox (Wynnewood, PA) added one.

A 30-10 shots edge in the half for the Pride certainly helped along with the fact they won 9-of-13 face-offs in that span.

Gratz came off the bench to score a career-best five goals, Taylor had four to match his season high and LaVine added two for the Pride.  Freshman Nick Rodgers (Aurora, IL) won 10-of-14 face-offs and senior Bobby Schluter (Kennett Square, PA) made nine saves over 17 relief minutes.

Casey had a goal and three assists for four points, leaving him just four shy of becoming the sixth player in school history to reach 200 points career.

Tom Lurie scored and Alex Wylly made nine saves over 54 minutes for the Warriors (3-9, 2-3).

Widener is on the road Wednesday at Albright in a rematch of last season's conference final, starting at 7:00 pm.  The Pride notched a 7-5 road victory in that contest.
