Swimming Handed Defeat at Swarthmore

Widener's men's and women's swimming teams each went against a very-competitive squad in Swarthmore and both fell as part of the "320 Challenge" in Swarthmore, PA.

The women were dealt a 119-84 setback and the men fell, 115-84.

Senior All-American Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) continued to shine by capturing the 200-yard butterfly in 2:20.01 and the 200-yard IM in 2:15.16

Ian Gaynor (Donegal, Ireland) won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.64 seconds and sophomore Andy Madore (State College, PA) took the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:23.31. The men's 400-yard freestyle relay also was victorious and included Gaynor, junior Andrew Olchowecky (Philadelphia, PA), freshman Jeremy Lahn (Philadelphia, PA) and senior Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA) in 3:20.05.

Widener is back in action Saturday for what always is an entertaining Middle Atlantic Conference meet at Albright, starting at 2:00 pm Reading, PA.
