Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 13-7 Victory at Messiah

Widener scored eight straight goals spanning the final three quarters and made it three straight victories with a convincing 13-7 Commonwealth Conference triumph over Messiah in Grantham, PA.
 
Senior Johnny Casey (Abington, PA) scored with 6:20 left in the first half to close the scoring before halftime and give Widener a 6-4 lead.  The Pride then tossed a 5-0 shutout in the third quarter for an 11-4 cushion on tallies from sophomore Robert Clemens (Aston, PA), Ryan Shewell (Ellicott City, MD), fellow senior Michael Bassani (Califon, NJ), junior Josh Fox (Wynnewood, PA) and Casey.
 
Shewell and junior Ryan Eidenshink (Elkins Park, PA) tallied in the fourth quarter for a 13-4 contest.
 
Casey and Fox netted three goals apiece with Shewell and senior Mark Kane (Morton, PA) each scoring twice for the Pride (5-7, 3-1 CC).  Sophomore Mac Nestler (Chatham, NJ) made 11 saves.
 
James Baden had a hat trick, Heath Kupecky netted two and Steve Kozuhowski made seven saves over 48 minutes for the Falcons (6-6, 1-2).
 
The contest was a re-match of last year's Middle Atlantic Conference final, in which Widener notched an 11-6 victory.
 
Widener on Saturday visits Lebanon Valley for a 1:00 pm start in Annville, PA.
