Women’s Basketball Defeats Delaware Valley 78-53 In Season Opener

Widener traveled to Westminster, MD to take part in McDaniel's Tip-Off Classic and won its first game of the tournament 78-53 against Delaware Valley.

Lil Carney (Narberth, PA) led the scoring for the Pride (1-0) with 15 points, coming from two three-pointers and three field goals to go with three free throws. Jennifer Egee (Ridley Park, PA) netted 14 points with Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) and Joanna Persiano (Absecon, NJ) each getting 11.

Francesca Lee (Hainesport, NJ) gathered 11 rebounds, seven being offensive and also had five points while sophomore Ally Ferrucci (Vineland, NJ) amassed seven assists.

Tomorrow, Saturday November 17, the women will play in the Championship game at 3:00 pm against McDaniel.
