CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Women's Basketball closed out the 2025-26 regular season on a high note, winning four straight contests to secure the No. 2 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The Pride will host the Alvernia University Golden Wolves in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals on Wednesday, February 25 at 6 p.m.
Widener compiled a 20-5 overall record, including an 11-3 mark in conference play. The Pride swept five of their seven MAC opponents and capped the regular season by winning four of their final five games.
Alvernia enters the semifinal with a 13-12 overall record and an 8-6 conference mark. After opening MAC play at 3-5, the Golden Wolves found their rhythm down the stretch, winning five of their next seven games to punch their ticket to the postseason.
The two teams split the regular-season series, each defending its home floor. Alvernia claimed the first meeting, 69-59, before Widener responded with a commanding 70-46 victory in the rematch.
Lindsay Kutz has been a steady and reliable presence for the Pride, averaging 13.5 points and a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game. She also shares the team lead in blocks at 0.6 per contest while anchoring the glass all season long.
Avalynn Baer delivered her top scoring performance of the year in the home matchup against Alvernia, pouring in 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and three steals while shooting 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Baer has been a force throughout the season, tying for the team lead in blocks (0.6 per game) and pacing the Pride in offensive rebounds at 3.2 per contest.
Riley Stackhouse has continued to make an impact in her second season, averaging 11.9 points, 1.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game, providing a spark on both ends of the floor.
The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will advance to face the winner of Messiah vs. York in the MAC Commonwealth Championship on Saturday, February 28. Game time and location will be announced following the semifinal round.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors (65+), and $5 for youth (ages 7-17). MAC students with a valid ID and children six and under accompanied by an adult receive free admission.
