Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 12-5 Win Over Frostburg State

Widener took control of the game early in the third quarter and never looked back in a convincing 12-5 victory over Frostburg State at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
 
Leading 6-3 at halftime, Widener scored five goals in the third period for an 11-4 lead. Andrew Janusz (Easton, PA) netted a pair in that span with fellow senior Mike Holtz (Easton, PA), junior Michael Bassani (Califon, NJ) and senior JJ Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ) each adding one.
 
Janusz scored four goals with sophomore Johnny Casey (Glenside, PA) adding three for the Pride, who had a 41-30 shots edge that included 21-14 in the second half. Bassani scored twice with freshman Robert Clemens (Aston, PA) getting a goal and two assists.
 
Freshman Mac Nestler (Chatham, NJ) made eight saves in 52 1/2 minutes and sophomore Charlie Bytheway (Glen Mills, PA) amassed five ground balls for the Pride (2-1).
 
Lucas Flaig scored twice and Tyler Haines made 11 saves for the Bobcats (2-4). William Lark went 9-for-11 on face-offs as part of Frostburg State's 12-for-20 effort.
 
Widener next Saturday hosts Dickinson in its final regular-season non-conference game of the year. Face-off is at 1:00 pm.
