Men’s And Women’s Swimming Fall To Swarthmore

Widener men's and women's swimming teams fought hard in close meets against Swarthmore, but both teams fell short 111-79 and 107-98, respectively, at Schwartz Center.
 
The women's 200-yard medley relay team, which consisted of Caitlin Howard (Cherry Hill, NJ), Laura Farrar (Longmont, CO), Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) and Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD), took first place with a time of 1:55.54. The 200-yard freestyle relay, made up with Lake, Harris, Carly Wray (Ocean View, NJ) and Kathryn Gavlick (Ashley, PA) also took first place in their race with a time of 1:43.64.
 
Farrar also took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.01 and second place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:17.04. Colleen Tighe (Linwood, NJ) took second place in two of her races. She finished with a time of 11:25.44 in the 1,000-yard freestyle race and finished the 500-yard freestyle in 5:37.40.
 
Charlie Schindler (Pasadena, MD) took first place for the men's 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.12. Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA) finished first in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.11 and second in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.72. Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) led the pack by finishing first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.38. He also closed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.53 as well as in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:07.09.
 
Widener travels to Albright for their next meet Saturday, beginning at 2:00 pm.
