Men's Lacrosse Suffers Tough Overtime Loss at Messiah

Senior Cory Malampy (Ridley, PA) scored four goals that included the tying marker with 7.5 seconds left in regulation, but Widener suffered a heartbreaking 7-6 overtime to Middle Atlantic Conference rival Messiah in Grantham, PA.

Widener was down 6-2 with under four minutes remaining when it began its charge.  Malampy scored with 3:48 to play and tallied again 51 seconds later for a two-goal contest.

Junior JJ Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ) made it a 6-5 game with 1:13 left before the Pride got a two-man advantage.  Malampy made Messiah pay with his tying goal.

Widener won the face-off in overtime, but Messiah got the ball back and saw Kyle Sproles score 2:20 into the extra session.

Sophomore Nate Meyer (Jenkintown, PA) also scored and freshman Bobby Schluter (Kennett Square, PA) made seven saves for the Pride.

Sproles, Nate Windon and Steve Feltner all scored twice, and Josh Stewart made 21 saves for the Falcons.
