Men's Lacrosse to Host HEADstrong Rivalry Games on April 3

Widener has announced it will host the first HEADstrong Rivalry Games on Saturday, April 3 at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

The Pride host Cabrini at 3:30 pm as part of a day-long event that also features five high school games.  Neshaminy faces Pennsbury at 9:00 am, Sun Valley battles Unionville at 11:00 am, Easton plays Emmaus at 1:00 pm, La Salle takes on Saint Joseph's Prep at 6:00 pm and Ridley collides with Strath Haven at 8:00 pm.

The Rivalry Games are just part of a family of events run by the HEADstrong Foundation, which raises money and awareness for blood cancer research as well as help those afflicted by this horrible disease.  The teams will keep with HEADstrong tradition by conducting a blood cancer awareness campaign on their respective campuses, distributing literature and selling official HEADstrong t-shirts.

The HEADstrong Foundation was created in memory of Nick Colleluori, a 2004 graduate of Ridley High School and a Hofstra University lacrosse player who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Colleluori lost his relentless battle to cancer in 2006 after a 14-month fight.

Widener, which has won four of the last five Middle Atlantic Conference titles, opens its season at home Saturday against No. 2 Stevenson.  Face-off is at 1:00 pm.
