Widener has an impressive showing with three victories at the McElligot Invitational in Haverford, PA.
Freshman Ryan Chance (Glassboro, NJ) won twice, taking the long jump at 6.69 meters and the triple jump at 13.21 meters. Sophomore Dennis Conn (Morton, PA) also was victorious, grabbing the 800-meter run in 1:57.08.
Junior Robert Innocent (Fairfax, VA) closed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.41 seconds, sophomore Cedrick Clayton (Cinnaminson, NJ) took fourth in the long jump at 6.16 meters, and junior Brad Moran (Neshanic Station, NJ) was third collegiately and fourth overall in the shot put at 13.01 meters. Freshman Kyle Gunning (Delran, NJ) ended fourth collegiately and fifth overall in the shot put at 13.01 meters, losing to Moran on a judge's decision.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team finished fifth in 3:35.43. The women's 4x400-meter relay squad ended fifth at 4:20.76.
Also of note is assistant coach Nick Price won the shot put competing unattached, winning with a meet-record toss of 17.21 meters.
Widener next Friday and Saturday takes part in the Boston University Invitational.
