Track and Field Continues to Roll at Haverford Holiday Meet

Widener had another strong showing with a first-place finish and five runner-up efforts at the Haverford Holiday Meet in Haverford, PA.
 
The victory came courtesy of junior Brooke McDonald (Drexel Hill, PA), who easily took the women's pole vault at 3.18 meters.  Senior Valisha Andrus (Pemberton, NJ) was second in the 200-meter dash in 27.67 seconds and freshman Colleen Spiller (Flemington, NJ) grabbed second in the high jump at 1.50 meters, tying the previous meet record.
 
Junior Michael Garrity (Briarcliffe, PA) was second in the mile run in 4:23.41 and second in the 800-meter run in 2:00.87. Mick Coleman (Southampton, PA) continued his solid freshman campaign by taking second in the pole vault at 4.25 meters.
 
Other performances of note included Michael Calkins (Dallas, PA) grabbing fourth in the 800-meter run at 2:00.87, fellow freshman Dennis Nguyen (Springfield, PA) taking fourth in the pole vault at 3.95 meters and freshman Eric Solomon (Columbia, PA) getting fourth in the shot put at 10.47 meters.
 
Sophomore Darcela Llanos (Abington, PA) was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 28.18 seconds, junior Eric Albohn (Easton, PA) took sixth in the 55-meter dash in 7.06 seconds and freshman Tyler Schmalhofer (Elizabethtown, PA) grabbed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 23.99 seconds.
 
Widener does not compete again until January 14 at the NYU Gotham Cup in New York.
