Men's Lacrosse Drops 12-10 Contest to Messiah

Five goals from freshman Johnny Casey (Glenside, PA) could not help Widener climb out of a six-goal deficit in a 12-10 Middle Atlantic Conference loss to Messiah at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
 
Messiah (4-3, 2-1 MAC) raced to a 7-1 lead early in the third quarter thanks to Phil Wendt scoring twice.
 
The Pride (2-5, 1-1) scored nine of their markers in the second half with Casey netting all of his in that span. Sophomore Andrew Janusz (Easton, PA) had two assists in the half.
 
J.J. Miller won 17-of-25 face-offs and had 17 ground balls to go with his two goals and three assists for the Falcons. Wendt and Jeff Ziegler scored three goals with James Baden netting a pair. Greg Latimer made 18 saves.
 
Sophomore Kevin Carney (Ridley, PA) had 11 saves for the Pride, who ended with a 41-34 shots edge.
 
Widener on Saturday visits Alvernia, beginning at 1:00 pm.
