3/12/08 -- Senior Clint Quedenfeld (Chalfont, PA) scored three times for his third hat trick of the year, but Widener let an early lead slip away in a 9-5 loss at York (PA).

Quedenfeld recorded a natural hat trick spanning the first two quarters, giving Widener a 3-2 lead. Senior Chris Matthews (Drexel Hill, PA) and Brian Stromko (Maplewood, NJ) had the assists.

But the Spartans (5-1) scored five straight goals for a 7-3 cushion. Mike LaRoque netted a pair in that span.

Quedenfeld also posted two assists for the Pride (1-3), who were outshot, 43-24. Senior Tim Collins (Yorktown Heights, NY) made 14 saves and junior Justin Upp (Camden, DE) won 10-of-15 faceoffs.

Kyle Henninger and Ryan McNicholas also scored twice for the Spartans and Steve Mersinger totaled eight ground balls.

Widener on Saturday hosts McDaniel, beginning at 1:00 pm.
