Women's Basketball Pulls Away Late From Delaware Valley For a 68-55 Victory

12/4/07 -- Junior Megan Sipple (Boothwyn, PA) led four players in double figures with 16 points for Widener, which used a late run to secure a 68-55 victory over Delaware Valley at Schwartz Center.

Widener (3-3) scored nine straight points over 2 1/2 minutes to turn a four-point lead into a 64-53 cushion with 2:54 left. Sipple netted seven points of her nine second-half points in that span.

Sipple, who converted a four-point play in the opening half, nailed three 3-pointers and also grabbed six rebounds over 31 minutes.

Sophomore Rayne Reber (Pottstown, PA) had 15 points and seven rebounds, junior Beth Dessart Mager (Newtown Square, PA) contributed 13 and nine with freshman Katie Gallagher (Defiance, OH) netting 10 points for Widener.

The Pride's defense once again came through, holding the Aggies (2-4) to only 36 percent shooting (19-of-53) overall and 3-of-14 from 3-point range. Delaware Valley shot 39 percent (11-of-28) after intermission and missed all four 3-point attempts.

Moira Donohue had 21 points and seven rebounds with Kim Vennera adding 13 and seven for the Aggies.

Widener on Saturday opens an eight-game road trip at King's. Tip-off in Wilkes-Barre, PA is 1:00 pm.
