READING, Pa. – An all around day for
Jay-Nelly Reyes comes up short in a nail biter first conference matchup against Alvernia.
The 77-75 loss moves the Pride to 3-9 in the regular season and 0-1 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Kori Segich and Jacob Aryee each showed 17 points.
- Jay-Nelly Reyes would score 16, hold four steals and a block.
- The Pride shot 43.3% from the floor, 24.0% from three, and saw 40 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Myles Bright struck first for the Pride with a triple from Reyes. Bright would continue the scoring with a fastbreak layup and a jumper in the paint to take a 7-5 lead. Reyes' layup would fall for an And-1 out of the first media timeout. Dylan Schlatter capitalized on Namisse Musonge's steal to give the Pride a double-digit lead. With 10:18 left, Reyes hit a layup for another And-1 while Aryee threw a block up to give Matt Johnson a bucket with 9:32 remaining. Aryee would find the final points of the half with an in the paint jumper to make the score 35-30 heading into the break.
- TJ Bryson snuck an offensive rebound for a put back layup to start the second. Reyes saw his block on the next drive to allow Bryson to sink a triple. Emmett Kane would see some action with a rebound and block while Segich put in a layup to extend the lead back to 10. Aryee hit Reyes for a nice dunk at 15:34 and then picked up a block. A back-and-forth emerged but the Pride held a consistent lead until 9:25. The Golden Wolves would go on a 19-0 run to stun the Pride and take a 68-62 lead. Ethan Dodon would break the run with a layup off Reyes. The free throw game became important as the Pride drained four to cut the score to 73-70. Reyes earned his keep on steals while an And-1 from Aryee put the Pride down one with four seconds left. The Pride would come home short with a final of 77-75.
