Bright, Segich, Reyes, and Aryee Double Digit in First Conference Win

CHESTER, Pa. – Four Widener Men's Basketball put up 10 plus in a 80 plus point win over Messiah to capture their first conference victory.
 
The 89-79 win moves the Pride to 4-9 in the regular season and 1-1 in conference play.
 
BY THE NUMBERS HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pride saw their first points with a triple from Reyes to cut into the Falcons lead. Kane poked the ball to give Segich a layup and an And-1. Bright sunk a triple at 15:10 to take a slight lead. Out of a timeout, Aryee and Bright hit triples to keep it close. Another layup with 7:39 left would make the score 25-22 Falcons before Kane picked a block up. A strong offensive presence in the paint emerged with the final points coming from Ethan Dodson and Ayree. The Pride would head to half tied at 37.
     
  • The Pride struck first with Segich putting in a quick layup. Reyes earned a block while the Falcons went scoreless for a minute. Bright hit a jumper in the paint to push the Pride above 40. A stretch of back-and-forth points would end with a short run from Bright and Dodson with layups and an And-1. Namisse Musonge would see his first points with a layup while Reyes and Bright put in two more. Kane stole the ball to give Segich a layup while Bright hit two from the charity stripe to take a nine-point lead. At 4:21, Bright drained a triple from TJ Bryson. A foul game appeared in the final two minutes with Dodson, Segich, and Bright earned shots for a final score of 89-79.

Widener returns to the court on Wednesday, January 14 against the 4-8 (1-1 MAC Commonwealth) Eastern Eagles. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Chester, Pa.
