GLENSIDE, Pa. – A meet of seconds shows Widener Men's Swimming in a hard meet against Arcadia.
The 140-90 loss moves the Pride to 4-4 in the regular season and 4-1 in conference standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The men's meet opened with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay from
Matthew Niro,
Michael Machristie,
Adam Bailey, and
Zach Delgado. The quad would swim a 1:41.94.
Sean Lehan would capture first in the 1000-yard free with a 10:20.73.
Seth Phillips took third in the 200-yard free with a 1:58.38 while Colin Ergood snagged fourth with a 1:59.38.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Niro took second as he touched in a 56.18.
Machriste showed a 1:03.88 in the 100-yard breaststroke to take second.
Bailey continued the seconds with a 2:09.40 to just miss first in the 200-yard butterfly.
A sprint 50 showcased Delgado with a 23.20 to miss first by 0.08. An event later, Delgado touched in the wall in 51.62 in the 100-yard free.
The 200-yard backstroke, gave Niro a 2:07.51 to again take second.
Machriste led Phillips in the 200-yard breaststroke as the two took a 2-3 finish. Machriste clocked a 2:21.49 while Phillips touched in a 2:28.06.
Distance dominance continued as Lehan took first with a 5:00.56 in the 500-yard free.
Niro split the 100-yard butterfly with a 55.53 to out touch the Knights by 0.05.
The meet was capped with the 800-yard free relay team of Phillips, Ergood, Bailey, and Lehan capturing second in 7:56.59.
