Emotions Shine at Widener Final Qualifier for Men’s Track and Field

Johnson clocks new best; Nescio moves into All-Time Top 10

CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore David Johnson's 800-meter emotions show at Widener Final Qualifier late on Monday afternoon.
 
Matayo McGraw would open the Monday meet in the high jump where he took first with a 1.99-meter jump.
 
Sean Gizzi and Aidan Wilson both jumped to a 4.05-meter height in the pole vault.
 
In the long jump, Jacob Grossman marked a 6.83-meter jump to take ninth.
 
Isaac Almoney's 59.42-meter throw in the hammer would take fourth. John Kodack threw a 49.2-meter distance while David Fuhrman threw a 43.40.
 
On the track, Tristen Silverstein opened in the 100-meter prelims where he clocked an 11.71. Silverstein would return an event later in the 110-meter hurdles as he would run a 15.98.
 
Elijah Celestin's 400-meter dash showed a 49.99 while Derek Rudd and Mikeal Palmieri threw down a 50.60 and 51.70 respectively. Palmieri saw a personal best.
 
Silverstein ended his day in the 200-meter dash as he ran a 23.48.
 
Johnson took down his personal best in the 800-meter with a new time of 1:55.20.
 
Ashton Ray and Michael Greene ran a 4:19.44 and 4:27.00 in the 1500-meter run. 
 
Joe Nescio would move into Widener's All-Time Top 10 listing in the steeplechase as he showed a personal best 9:24.75.
 
Tom Flear ended the evening late on Monday night with a 14:49.80 in the 5000-meter run.

Widener returns to the track on Wednesday and Thursday, May 14-15 for the AARTFC Championships hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
