CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Women's basketball outscored the Arcadia Knights 23-7 in the fourth quarter to secure their third home win of the season.
The Pride are now 7-1 on the season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lindsay Kutz delivered a game-high 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting, adding 12 rebounds for a double-double, while also grabbing three steals.
- Riley Stackhouse finished with 16 points, while also adding a pair of steals and committing zero turnovers in 37 minutes of action.
- Avalynn Baer posted a strong all-around performance with 14 points, eight rebounds, and six free throws.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener jumped out to an early 14-8 lead highlighted by six points from Riley Stackhouse. Arcadia would bring the score with in two before Jayla Daniels capped the opening frame with a three-pointer in the final seconds, giving the Pride a 17–12 edge after one.
- The Arcadia offense got going in the second quarter and were able to gain the advantage, but Widener stayed within striking distance despite a quieter offensive period. Free throws from Baer and Giada Palmieri kept the Pride close at halftime, trailing just 31–30.
- The Pride found their rhythm after the break, with Kutz and Baer scoring early buckets before Stackhouse converted on a layup to give Widener back the lead. A 12–5 run midway through the quarter helped the Pride retake control, as the defense forced Arcadia into multiple turnovers to build a 49-44 lead at the end of the third.
- The Pride took full command in the final 10 minutes, opening the quarter on a decisive run fueled by Stackhouse, Kutz, and Breelynn Leary. Widener outscored Arcadia 23–7 in the final frame, pulling away down the stretch to secure the 72–51 victory at the Schwartz Center.
