CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Women's Soccer drops conference home game against the Albright Lions after heartbreaking late goal.
The Pride are now 6-6-3 on the season and 1-3-0 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pride had 13 shots (8 on goal). The Lions had 9 shots (7 on goal).
- Widener attempted 4 corner kicks while Albright attempted 3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener came out strong, controlling much of the early possession and generating chances through Giovanna Chaves and Abby Picollo. Chaves forced the first save of the game in the 12th minute, followed by efforts from Abby Picollo and Drumbore that kept Albright's goalkeeper busy. Araba Abanyie made a crucial save on Albright's early attempt to preserve the shutout. Despite Widener's five first-half shots and a pair of corners, the game remained scoreless at halftime, 0–0.
- Just one minute into the half, Abanyie denied an Albright penalty shot with an excellent save to the right. Charlotte Burke and Isabella Losada each tested the Albright keeper midway through the half, but the Pride couldn't find the back of the net. Widener continued to push offensively, earning corners in the 58th and 84th minutes and producing multiple shots from Burke and Allison Gomez late. Albright was able to break through in the 87th minute to take a late lead. Widener pressed hard in the final minutes, with Reilly Klein forcing one last save, but the Pride couldn't find the equalizer.
