Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Suffers Third Straight Loss Against York

York, Pa. - Women's basketball loses their third conference game of the season against the York College Spartans.

The Pride fall to 11-7 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Lindsay Kutz was Widener's leading scorer with 14 points shooting 5-12 from the field. Kutz also grabbed 6 rebounds and had 3 assists.
  • Mia Robbins had another solid game accumulating 10 points and 7 boards while shooting 4-5 from the free throw line.
  • Riley Stackhouse continues to put together solid performances in her first year, against York she had 10 points shooting 3-8 from the field and 2-4 from the line.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first quarter was not kind to the Pride as York jumped out to an 11-3 lead with just under five minutes to play. The Pride would start to claw back as Grace Egli and Mia Robbins connected on mid-range jump shots. Lindsay Kutz would then connect on a 3 ball to bring the Pride within four as the first quarter came to a close.
  • The second quarter started the same as the first, as the Spartans went on a 9-2 run to begin the frame. Riley Stackhouse and Mia Robbins would stop the bleeding as Stackhouse was able to hit a three followed up by a Robbins layup. Widener was unable to build off of these buckets as York held the Pride to only 5 points for the remainder of the quarter while the Spartans continued to dominate on offense. The score at half would be Widener 21, and York 32.
  • York came out of the half ready as they were able to extend their lead to 17 with 5:54 left in the third. Jayla Daniels stepped in and was able to score back-to-back baskets for the Pride followed by a Lindsay Kutz score to give the Pride some life. The Pride were down 35-50 after three quarters.
  • The fourth quarter was the best one offensively for the Pride as they scored 18 points. Avalynn Baer and Riley Stackhouse each hit multiple shots, and both connected from three. Unfortunately for the Pride, York continued to score and would ultimately defeat the Pride 68-53.
