CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Baseball head coach
Kevin Burdick has announced Pride's 2025 schedule.
Last season, the Pride went 13-22 (8-13 MAC). They just missed the MAC Commonwealth playoffs, finishing in 6
th place.
Coach Burdick said the team is prepared to face the challenge ahead of them.
"We set ourselves up for another challenging season. With most of the roster returning, we believe that their experience last season will help them mentally prepare for what is ahead. We look forward to competing with some of the best teams in the country while pursuing a run to the MAC Championship."
The Pride roster has a solid mix of young players and veterans, including Sophomore Outfielder
Jack Balcer, Junior Infielder
Ryan Bauerle, and Graduate Student Pitcher
Sean Curran.
Balcer was outstanding in his first season, leading the team with a .397 batting average and 1.059 ops. He was named to the MAC All- Conference Second Team and earned ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Region honors. Bauerle was named to the Mac All-Conference First team after slashing .330/.462/.384 and putting up a .750 OPS. Curran once again had a productive year for the Pride, posting a 4.81 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. He also led the team in strikeouts for the second straight year with 53 on the season.
The Pride begin the 2025 season on Saturday, February 22
nd when they travel to Winchester, Va. For a double header against Shenandoah. They stay on the road for two mid-weeks match ups against Kean and Rutgers Camden before traveling to Salisbury Md. on March 1st to face off against Salisbury and SUNY Oswego. Widener then has one last road game at Swarthmore before their home opener on Wednesday, March 5
th against Washington College.
After their home opener. Widener travels to Florida to play in the Russmatt Invitational. They will play Albertus Magnus, Minnesota Morris, and Calvin before flying back to Chester for their first three game conference series of the season against Eastern. The Pride follow that up with two mid weeks games against Arcadia and Ursinus before playing conference opponent Stevenson. Following that, the Pride have another five-game week starting with Haverford and TCNJ before a series against the defending MAC Commonwealth Champions Alvernia to close out March.
April starts off with a home game against Neumann and then conference series against York and Albright. They play their last out of conference game on Monday, April 14
th against Rosemont before finishing out the season with series against Hood and Messiah.
